Oil pastels/ Soft pastels
Oil pastels are crayons made from pure pigment powder in combination with a binder. The binder determines what type of pastel it is (oil pastel, soft pastel). The softer the pastels, the higher the ratio of pigment to binder - the harder the pastels, the higher the ratio of binder to pigment. Oil pastels have a soft, buttery consistency that produces intense colours because of the oil with which they are bound. This course is an expression of creativity with pastels, from information about the different types, their use and cleaning to landscapes, portraits and even mixed media.
